Designed for small hands, this handheld pad teaches children simple drawing skills, objects, and letter stroke order, step by step. As they draw on the writing pad with their round writing pencil, their drawings will appear on the interactive screen. With the Write & Learn Letter Pad™, preschoolers will be on the right path to writing, a skill that lasts a lifetime!

GETTING STARTED
BATTERY INSTALLATION
1. Make sure the unit is OFF.
2. Locate the battery cover on the bottom of the unit.
3.Open the battery cover.
4.Install 3 new “AA” batteries following
the diagram inside the battery box. (The use of new, alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance.)
5. Replace the battery cover.
BATTERY NOTICE
•Install batteries correctly observing the polarity (+, -) signs to avoid leakage.
•Do not mix old and new batteries.
•Do not mix batteries of different types:alkaline, standard (carbonzinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium).
•Remove the batteries from the equipment when the unit will not be used for an extended period of time.
• Always remove exhausted batteries from the equipment. | 3 |
•Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
•Do not attempt to recharge ordinary batteries.
•The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
•Only batteries of the same and equivalent type as recommended are to be used.

PRODUCT FEATURES

To turn the unit on, press the ON/OFF
BUTTON.
Press the ON/OFF BUTTON again to turn the unit off.
2. ACTIVITY BUTTONS
Press one of the three ACTIVITY BUTTONS to select an activity.
3. LETTER BUTTONS
Press the 26 LETTER BUTTONS to learn letters, phonics, a related object, and the proper letter strokes, depending on the activity selected.

4. ERASER
Slide the ERASER to erase your writing or drawing from the writing pad.
5. REPEAT BUTTON
Press the REPEAT BUTTON to hear the current instruction repeated.
6. CHECKMARK ICON
Touch the CHECKMARK ICON to enter your writing/drawing on the interactive screen.
7.“X” ICON
Touch the “X” ICON to erase your writing/drawing from the interactive screen.
8.AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF
To preserve battery life, the VTech® Write & Learn Letter Pad™ will automatically turn off after several minutes without input. The unit can be turned on again by pressing the ON/OFF BUTTON.
ACTIVITIES
1. Drawing Shapes
•Press the activity button to select this activity.
•This activity teaches pre-writing skills by
showing how to draw simple lines and shapes. The interactive screen will display basic strokes such as straight lines, curves, circles, slanted lines, and more. Simply follow the instructions to practice these simple pre-writing skills on the writing pad.

•Press a letter button to hear the letter name and learn the lines related to this letter. For example, you will hear “A. Let’s practice lines before we write A.” Then you will learn to draw lines that form the letter A. When you are done practicing these lines, press the checkmark icon to see your drawing appear on the interactive screen!
2. Letter Writing
•Press the activity button to select this activity.
•This activity teaches you to write letters, step
by step. Each stroke is identified and displayed on the interactive screen.
• Press a letter button to hear the letter name

and its phonetic sound. Then learn how to write capital letters, step by step. Watch the interactive screen to see how each letter is formed. Then practice writing these strokes on the writing pad.
When you’re done, press the checkmark icon and your letter will appear on the interactive screen!
3. Doodle ‘n Draw
•Press the activity button to select this activity.
•This activity teaches you how to draw objects
that relate to a specific letter. The objects are taught step-by-step.
•Press a letter button to hear the letter name
and a related object. Then learn how to draw objects step by step by watching the interactive screen. When you’re done drawing on the writing pad, press the checkmark icon to see your drawing appear on the interactive screen! Also, as you draw, fun songs will play!

CARE & MAINTENANCE
1.Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.
2.Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat source.
3.Remove the batteries when the unit is not in use for an extended period of time.
4.Do not drop the unit on a hard surface and do not expose the unit to moisture or water
TROUBLESHOOTING
If for some reason the program/activity stops working, please follow these steps:
1.Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
2.Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.
3.Turn the unit ON. The unit should now be ready to play again.
4.If the product still does not work, replace with an entire set of new batteries.
